Kansans Can Star Awards
Celebrating Excellence in USD 417!
We're proud to announce that USD 417 Morris County has been recognized with two 2025 Kansans Can Star Awards from the Kansas State Department of Education!
Gold Star - High School Graduation

 Copper Star - Postsecondary Success
The Kansans Can Star Awards program celebrates school districts for outstanding achievements across seven categories that reflect success in Kansas education. Three categories (Academically prepared for postsecondary, High School Graduation, and Postsecondary Success) are quantitative measures automatically calculated by KSDE. The other four categories (Social-emotional growth, Kindergarten readiness, Individual Plan of Study, and Civic Engagement) are qualitative measures that districts apply for. Awards range from Gold (highest) to Silver, Bronze, and Copper.
These recognitions reflect the hard work and dedication happening in our district every single day. Congratulations to our educators and support staff at Prairie Heights Elementary, Council Grove Elementary, and Council Grove Junior/Senior High School. Your commitment to our students at every level makes achievements like these possible.
